Now, you could ask the manufacturers which mattress is the best air mattress, but I will save you quite a bit of time, effort and trouble. The answer they will provide is that their mattress is the best because their job to is to tell you that. It wouldn’t be very good marketing for a salesperson to suggest that the mattress they are selling is anything but the best.

However, there are a few core criteria that can be applied in order to make a baseline argument a mattress must meet before even being considered for the mantle of best air mattress which, coincidentally is the most coveted title in the land.

Quality of the Construction

How well is the mattress put together? Is the work ethic that was put into the construction of the mattress at a level where the air mattress will not tear, rip or puncture? If not, then it simply can not be considered for the title of best air mattress.

Quality of the Fabric

Fabric makes or breaks the mattress. In fact, fabric is usually what is the determining factor that drives up the cost of those really, really expensive mattresses. While quality of the fabric is not a be all, end all for determining what mattress is the best air mattress, it is definitely important enough of a factor that is must be taken into serious consideration.

Comfort

How does the mattress actually feel? If the air mattress feels no different than a standard coil and spring mattress (or worse, a slab of granite), then it cannot make a credible claim to the title of best air mattress. Of course, comfort is a relative term. Different individuals will apply different standards which are not a problem as there are tons of mattresses to choose from.

Intangibles

Color, texture, and even the font of the words on the “do not remove under penalty of law tag.” These are all things individuals take into his or her personal consideration when deciding what the best air mattress is. That is fine, as individuals will apply different standards in their shopping, as oddball as they sometimes may be. On a side note, is there really any existing state, federal or international law that protects those mattress tags?
